SUMMARY AND SUGGESTIONS

  • PURPOSES OF PRACTICUM

The primary purpose of my teaching practicum abroad is to gain experience and practical exposure in an international educational environment. I aim to learn educational methods from other countries while sharing my own approaches, thereby enhancing my teaching skills and improving my English proficiency. This practicum will not only contribute to my professional development but also broaden my understanding of the diversity in global education.

  • PROCEDURES OF PRACTICUM

The procedure for my teaching practicum abroad involves several specific steps. After completing the application process and attending the orientation session, I began by observing experienced teachers to understand their teaching methods, classroom management strategies, and to familiarize myself with the students. Gradually, I took on teaching responsibilities. During this process, I developed lesson plans, prepared teaching materials, and implemented classroom activities with the guidance of my supervising teacher. Throughout my month at the elementary school, I not only learned effective teaching practices but also participated in various events such as camping and baking.

  • OUTCOMES OF PRACTICUM

The outcomes of my practicum abroad have provided me with invaluable advantages. I have significantly enhanced my teaching and classroom management skills through practical experience in an international setting, while also acquiring various innovative and effective pedagogical methods from seasoned educators. These experiences have contributed to the development of my communication and interaction skills with students, instilling greater confidence in my teaching abilities. Furthermore, my proficiency in English has markedly improved. This internship has afforded me deeper insights into the international educational landscape, establishing a solid foundation for my future career in education.

  • THE CHALLENGES OF PRACTICUM

The challenges I encounter in my teaching practice are language barriers; I must communicate in a way that ensures all students can understand. Additionally, there is the challenge of managing the classroom to create a positive and dynamic learning environment.

  • OVERALL IMPERESSION

I am very pleased to have participated in this program. It has provided me with invaluable experiences and lessons that would be difficult to find elsewhere. At the age of 21, this is my first time traveling so far, learning to be independent, and living away from my family. In such a wonderful country as Indonesia, I have encountered amazing people. The teachers and friends here have supported me greatly, facilitating my development and integration.

When I interned at the elementary school and interacted with the students, my passion for teaching was rekindled more than ever. The joyful and warm moments spent with the children have made me realize that teaching is not just a job, but a noble mission. In addition to learning about the educational system of the host country, I have also experienced its rich culture, cuisine, and famous tourist attractions.

I feel incredibly honored and grateful to have been accepted into the Sea Teacher program. These experiences have not only enriched my knowledge and skills but they have also created unforgettable memories on my journey to becoming an educator.

  • SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE IMPROVEMENT

This program is truly excellent and valuable. However, my suggestion is to extend the internship period, as I believe that one month is too short for a deep and meaningful experience. A longer duration would allow interns to gain more exposure to the learning environment and further develop their teaching skills.
