3rd week in Indonesia

  •  Wednesday

On Wednesday, it was Helen's turn to teach the Grade 4B. Her lesson went smoothly and was engaging for the students. At 3 PM, we had a meeting at the UPGRIS International Office to discuss the performances for October 22nd. We carefully reviewed the program and made sure everyone was on the same page regarding the schedule and roles. In the evening, we had an online meeting with our supervisor to discuss our progress, share feedback, and plan for the upcoming tasks. The meeting was productive and gave us valuable insights into how to improve our teaching methods.

  • Thursday

On Thursday, I taught an English lesson to Grade 5A, starting at 1 PM. The students were highly engaged and eager to participate, which created a dynamic and lively classroom atmosphere. I focused on incorporating interactive activities, group discussions, and educational games to encourage collaboration and communication among the students. This approach helped foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, allowing the students to feel comfortable and confident in practicing their language skills. The students’ enthusiasm and active participation made the lesson both enjoyable and rewarding for me as a teacher.

  • Friday

On Friday, we participated in a Klepon-making class, a traditional dish from Central Java, with the Grade 4A students. I was genuinely surprised and impressed to see the students making the cakes by themselves. They were very skilled and meticulous in every step of the process, and the results were truly outstanding – the cakes were not only delicious but also beautifully made. At the end of the class, the students kindly gifted us the Klepon they had made, which was a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture. I was deeply moved and truly appreciative of their kindness, talent, and hospitality.

In the evening, we went out to eat with some friends who were staying on the floor below us in the dormitory. Despite the language barrier, everyone was very friendly and made an effort to communicate, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We had a great time together, laughing and sharing stories, and the atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie. It was a wonderful evening of cultural exchange and fun.

  • Sunday

On Sunday, Helen and I were both sick, so we were unable to join the city tour with everyone else.
